Difference Between Coaching And Training
What is the difference between a coach and a trainer?
Answer is tough but I have made it very simple for you with an example.I illustrate here an example of Indian Cricket Team.Indian cricket team plays with its 11 player in the ground but two important players are always supporting them out of the ground and they are Cricket team Coach and Physio or Trainer.Try to understand, why do not you call them Cricket team Trainer and Physio Coach instead of physiotherapist.
Simple because Coaching is a broader term and training is a specific term. The coach of Indian Cricket team looks after entire areas of team but the Physio or Trainer looks after only specific physical training.
The major responsibility of any Coach is to prepare player not only physically but mentally.Yogi Berra once said, “Ninety percent of game is half-mental”.
Coaching is more related with motivation and inspiration while training is related with specific skills.
Coaches have to play several roles they have to be your friend, they have to be your mentor and they have to be trainer.
Coaching is more related with vision they prepare you for long term vision while training develop certain specific skills.
Both are necessary because without good physio or trainer, only coach can not make Indian team a world champion third time.
Being a visionary, coach can see some of your hidden skills and talents and they can develop new skills and talent very fast. That is the USP of coaches.
Coaches focus on long term while trainers have to produce short term results.
Coaches innovate new techniques separately for every individual players. While trainers try to train every player with same techniques.
Coaches not only coach you but they set the future direction for you.
