Difference Between Bargaining And Negotiation

Difference between Bargaining and Negotiation:

When you are haggling between price and quality than you are doing bargaining. Negotiation is a broader term than bargaining because you can negotiate at any issue not only price.

In bargaining each side wants only economic benefit but in negotiation every kind of advantage happens. Often in bargaining consumers feel cheated that’s why bargaining is loosing its base existence. And people of new mall culture usually do not like bargaining. Some people believes bargaining is a waste of time and a thing of fish market.

There is also some confusion in the term bargaining, for

example if you go in to a shop and see a price tag of 100$ on a product but you want to get that product in 60$ then you try to bargain with shopkeeper but
if there is already 40% discount given on price tag and that shop is fixed rate shop then you can not show this 40$ discount as an achievement of your bargaining skill. Some one once said – “There is no such thing as bargaining, either you are lying or telling the truth.”

As far as negotiation is concerned, it is a broader term and objective of negotiation is to find win – win formula for both sides. The role of dialogue is very important in negotiation but this dialogue is not only related with monetary benefits like in bargaining. One another point is very important here – there is a difference between negotiation and compromise. Read More: http://expertscolumn.com/content/difference-between-negotiation-and-compromise
